Chelsea all set for the West Ham clash

Manager Jose Mourinho expects Chelsea to do well in the match against a desperate West Ham this Saturday, after their recent dip in form. The team is lagging four points behind the leaders Arsenal and is a full 21 points ahead of their rivals West Ham. Things are indeed looking grim for West Ham who are placed 16th in the table and are on the fringes of relegation zone. The blues had narrowly escaped a second successive league defeat just before the international break owing to a controversial penalty deep into extra time that secured them a 2-2 draw against West Brom. The decision by Andre Marriner helped keep Mourinho’s impeccable record at Stamford Bridge intact.

Arsenal’s abdominal woes are over

The Arsenal forward Theo James Walcott is all set to return from a six-week layoff after suffering from an abdominal injury. The news came as a surprise to the fans as the player was expected to be out till December. Walcott’s return is deemed to be a major boost to Arsene Wenger’s side after their first defeat of the season against Manchester United (1-0). Arsenal was already down to the bare bones following a string of injuries that saw Abou Diaby, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Tomas Rosicky, Yaya Sanogo and Lukas Podolski out. Grim as the situation may be, the return of Walcott has definitely raised the general morale at the Arsenal camp as they prepare to take on Southampton on 23rd.

Wenger on the lookout for strikers

Manager Arsene Wenger says he might not be active in the January transfer window despite the team's immediate need of a back up to Olivier Giroud. Arsenal's lack of capable strikers after Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott went down with injuries was widely discussed. The team still stands at the top of the table but whether they can continue to do so without investing in the transfer market is a question Wenger himself will find difficult to answer.
